چکیده

Deep Swift UV/Optical Telescope (UVOT) imaging of the Chandra Deep Field South is used to measure galaxy number counts in three near ultraviolet (NUV) filters (uvw2: 1928 Å, uvm2: 2246 Å, uvw1: 2600 Å) and the u band (3645 Å). UVOT observations cover the break in the slope of the NUV number counts with greater precision than the number counts by the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph (STIS) and the Galaxy Evolution Explorer (GALEX ), spanning a range from 21 . mAB . 25. Number counts models confirm earlier investigations in favoring models with an evolving galaxy luminosity function. Ultraviolet Galaxy Counts from STIS Observations of the Hubble

We present galaxy counts in the near-ultraviolet (NUV; 2365Å) and farultraviolet (FUV; 1595Å) obtained from Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph (STIS) observations of portions of the Hubble Deep Field North (HDFN), the Hubble Deep Field South (HDFS), and a parallel field near the HDFN. All three fields have deep (AB>29) optical imaging, and we determine magnitudes by taking the ultraviolet flu...

T he ultra - deep 20 cm Australia telescope survey of the Chandra Deep Field South

The advent of ultra-deep X-ray surveys with telescopes such as Chandra and XMM, together with deep multi-waveband ground-based and HST imaging covering radio and optical /near-IR wavelengths, allows us to directly probe the detailed properties of the environments, host galaxies and central accretion disks of both radio-loud and radio-quiet active galaxies up to cosmological redshifts. Here we p...

Radio Observations of the Hubble Deep Field South Region IV: Optical Properties of the Faint Radio Population

The Australia Telescope Hubble Deep Field-South (ATHDFS) survey of the Hubble Deep Field South reaches sensitivities of ∼ 10 μJy at 1.4, 2.5, 5.2 and 8.7 GHz, making the ATHDFS one of the deepest surveys ever performed with the Australia Telescope Compact Array. Here we present the optical identifications of the ATHDFS radio sources using data from the literature. We find that ∼66% of the radio...

Deep near - IR observations of the Chandra Deep Field and of the HDF South ⋆ Color and Number Counts

We present near-IR (J and Ks) number counts and colors of galaxies detected in deep VLT-ISAAC images centered on the Chandra Deep Field and Hubble Deep Field-South for a total area of 13.6 arcmin. The limiting surface brightness obtained is Ks≃22.8 mag/arcsec and J≃24.5 (1σ) on both fields. A dlogN/dm relation with a slope of ∼ 0.34 in J and ∼ 0.28 in Ks is found in both fields with no evidence...

A ROSAT Bright Source Catalog Survey with the Swift Satellite

We consider the prospects for a complete survey of the 18,811 sources of the ROSAT All-Sky Survey Bright Source Catalog (BSC) with NASA’s Swift gamma-ray burst (GRB) mission. By observing each BSC source for 500 s with the satellite’s imaging X-ray and UV/optical telescopes, this “Swift Bright (Source) Catalog Survey” (Swift-BCS) would derive <5 source positions for all BSC sources that have no...
